The Spanish Ministry of Ecological Transition (MITECO) has awarded Grupo Enhol the ‘Calculo’ seal for the year 2023, covering scopes 1 and 2, reflecting the impacts of its business activity. This recognition is a testament to the group’s commitment to sustainability and the reduction of its carbon footprint.
The MITECO registry is a voluntary registry where companies, organizations or entities can register their carbon footprint by submitting an emission reduction plan.
The label has a dual purpose. On the one hand, it allows organizations to prove their registration and, on the other hand, it allows them to reflect their efforts in the fight against climate change. This label identifies three levels of participation for a defined period (which will be annual): the calculation of the carbon footprint, its reduction and compensation.
The family company, which started its activity in 1930 with various crop plantations, currently manages, through its subsidiary Liverco, more than 700 Ha (equivalent to 35,151t of dehydrated product) in various crop cycles including corn, alfalfa, straw, oats and grass, among others. These crops have contributed to the reduction of the group’s carbon footprint by absorbing CO2, amounting to a total of 64,302t CO2 eq.
As of 2023, the group’s CO2 emissions stand at 2,461.39t CO2 eq and, taking into account the contribution of the Liverco sink, we obtain an overall balance in which the group removes a total of 61,840.61t CO2 eq from the atmosphere. This result is obtained by subtracting the CO2 equivalent contributed minus the CO2 from the sink, in figures: 64,302t CO2 eq – 2,461.39t CO2 eq = 61,840.61t CO2 eq.
The group aims to reduce its carbon footprint by 15% by 2024, a real challenge in terms of sustainability. A challenge that underlines the group’s commitment to sustainability, which is deeply rooted in its DNA and an integral part of its identity and guides all its decisions and actions.
