Enercluster presented this morning the interactive map of renewable energy in Navarra, a pioneering tool that makes it possible to consult, region by region and municipality by municipality, the real weight of the renewable sector in the region. The event also served to close the citizen-awareness campaign “Renovables SÍ · La Energía Más Positiva”.
Developed by Enercluster, the tool brings together data on installations, capacity, employment and demand coverage, among other variables. There is currently no comparable tool in Navarra. As Kiko Maza, Communications Director at Enercluster, pointed out, “for the first time we can estimate the economic impact of renewables in Navarra, municipality by municipality.”
Among the data compiled by the map, it stands out that Navarra’s municipalities earn more than 146 million euros thanks to renewables, plus nearly 24 million per year. Wind energy is confirmed as the driving force of the system: 3 out of every 4 renewable MW installed in Navarra are wind.
The event, hosted by Kiko Maza, featured a welcome from Enercluster’s president, Aitor Erquicia, and a round table bringing together Silvia Arrastia (Mayor of Barásoain) and José Luis Martínez Dachary (forestry engineer and technical director of Indyca), two of the campaign’s protagonists, who shared first-hand their views on renewables.
The closing address was delivered by Garbiñe Basterra, Director General for Energy and Digital Transition, Business R&D&I and Entrepreneurship of the Government of Navarra.
With this initiative, the cluster reinforces its commitment to bringing the value of renewable energy closer to citizens and to showing, with data, its contribution to the region as a whole.
