On Thursday 29th June, AIN hosted the second plenary session that Enercluster has organised in 2023, attended by more than fifty representatives of companies from the renewable industry sector. The session focused on the presentation of the Navarra Energy Plan 2030.
After the welcome address by Ana Ursúa, Director General of AIN, who reaffirmed the association’s commitment to the development of companies, Mikel Irujo, Minister of Economic Development of the Government of Navarra, took the floor. His speech began with a summary of the activity carried out in recent years in the field of the renewable industry. The councillor highlighted its unequivocal commitment to energy transition and the development of the sector’s industry, giving as an example the promotion of green hydrogen, self-consumption and energy efficiency. He also stressed that the government has implemented a methodology based on four axes: a strategy to guide the steps to be taken; regulatory changes that favour the development of the sector; the introduction of lines of economic aid; and tax changes favourable to energy transition projects. “As a territory we are well prepared and positioned to undertake the energy transition. But we must continue to strengthen the ecosystem,” he said.
On the other hand, he announced that the next challenges are linked to the consolidation of the green industry in Navarre and referred to concepts such as decarbonisation, green taxation or circular economy. The Minister stated that the challenge facing the sector is the responsibility of public institutions and the industry as a whole, and ended with a direct message: “Ambition or mediocrity”.
Energy Plan for Navarra 2030
The plenary session continued with the intervention of José Mari Sotro, technician of the Energy-Installations Area of AIN, who detailed the main keys of the Energy Plan of Navarra, created in 2018 and with four-yearly revisions.
The decarbonisation of the economy is the ultimate goal of the plan, but to achieve this it initially sets out three ambitious objectives:
- To reduce GHG emissions by 55% in 2030 vs 2005, in all the sectors included in the PEN2030, derived from their energy consumption.
- Achieve a 50% contribution of renewable energies in total final energy consumption and 100% of electricity consumption.
- To reduce final energy consumption by at least 13% compared to the figures projected for 2030 through efficiency measures.
Other presentations
As usual, the Enercluster plenary session included the summary of the cluster’s activity in recent months, as well as the main decisions taken by the board. The International Industry Congress for Energy Transition (CITE), which will take place in Baluarte on 25 October, was also officially presented to the associates. There was also time for the presentation of two associated companies; in this case NTV Solutions and AIN.
