Nabrawind’s first Nabralift towers arrive in Australia for the Nullagine wind project

Las primeras torres Nabralift de Nabrawind llegan a Australia para el proyecto eólico Nullagine

Nabrawind, a member of Enercluster, has reached a new milestone in the Nullagine wind project: the first Nabralift towers destined for the wind farm have arrived in Australia. The components of the 188-metre towers and the self-erecting system have arrived at the port of Port Hedland (Western Australia), from where they will be transported to the site, near Nullagine, in the Pilbara region.

The self-erecting system to be used to install the turbines is already on site, ready for final commissioning before the assembly of the 17 towers planned. In parallel, construction of the foundations for the 17 turbines has begun, ahead of the installation of the towers at the end of the year.

At 188 metres, this configuration will be the tallest tower in Australia. Its modular architecture allows logistically viable installations without large cranes and, compared with the concrete towers usually required at these heights, offers installation speeds two to three times faster, shortening timescales and improving operational efficiency.

The project also incorporates piled foundations instead of the conventional gravity ones, significantly reducing the use of concrete and steel —and with it embodied carbon emissions and costs— a solution particularly suited to remote locations such as the Pilbara.

Developed by Fortescue as part of its Real Zero strategy, the Fortescue Nullagine wind farm will have a capacity of 133 MW with 17 Envision EN182-7.8 MW turbines on 188-metre Nabralift towers. The combination of a 188-metre hub height, a 182-metre rotor and 7.8 MW of power sets a new benchmark for large-scale onshore wind.

With this deployment, Nabrawind reinforces the international reach of the wind technology developed in Navarra and the weight of the region’s renewable value chain.
