EOSOL to contribute to the construction of the world’s most advanced telescope

EOSOL participará en la construcción del telescopio más avanzado del mundo

EOSOL, a member company of ENERCLUSTER, will take part in one of the world’s most ambitious scientific projects: the construction of the European Extremely Large Telescope (ELT), currently being built in Chile’s Atacama Desert and set to become the world’s most advanced optical and infrared telescope.

The Navarra-based company will manufacture 44 sub-reflectors that will form part of the telescope’s optical system, a high-precision component that is essential to ensuring the proper performance of this major scientific infrastructure.

The contract has been awarded by the technology company AERTEC and represents further recognition of EOSOL’s ability to deliver engineering and manufacturing solutions for highly complex projects requiring the highest quality standards.

Promoted by the European Southern Observatory (ESO), the European Extremely Large Telescope will feature a 39-metre primary mirror and will enable scientists to observe the universe with an unprecedented level of detail, helping to address some of the greatest challenges in modern astronomy, including the study of exoplanets, distant galaxies and the origins of the universe.

EOSOL’s participation in this international project highlights the ability of Navarra’s companies to contribute expertise and technology to world-leading initiatives, applying their engineering and project management capabilities to highly specialised fields.
