Enercluster took part in Brussels in a meeting to promote a European industry with a “Made in Europe” label, together with the Government of Navarra and representatives of other European regions.
The meeting, held with MEPs Anna Cavazzini and Elena Sancho, focused on the Industrial Accelerator Act (IAA), the upcoming European regulation to strengthen the clean-technology industry.
The meeting was attended by the Regional Minister for Industry and Ecological and Business Digital Transition, Mikel Irujo, who recalled the work Navarra has been carrying out for more than two years in defence of the renewable industry and its entire value chain, from large companies to the smallest suppliers.
Navarra and representatives of 16 other regions from Germany, Austria, France, Italy and Spain argued that the IAA should include effective measures to protect and strengthen the European renewable industry. They welcomed the greater ambition of the European Parliament’s report —with a stricter definition of European origin and the extension of the components subject to European manufacturing requirements— and called for that level of ambition to be maintained throughout the negotiations.
The meeting recalled that economies such as Brazil, India, the United States and Turkey have been applying local content requirements for years, and argued that Europe should have equivalent instruments to support its own manufacturing capacity. The IAA is currently in the co-decision process between the European Parliament and the Council of the EU.
The meeting was also attended by European associations such as IndustriAll (European Trade Union Association), the European Solar Manufacturing Council (ESMC) and CLEPA (European Association of Automotive Suppliers), as well as members of the European Committee of the Regions.
With this participation, Enercluster reinforces its role as the voice of Navarra’s renewable industry before the European institutions and its commitment to a strong, competitive value chain in Europe.
