The Las Salesas – MCP building yesterday hosted a plenary session organized by Enercluster and dedicated exclusively to finding out about the reality and prospects of the photovoltaic sector. The session brought together representatives from a large number of companies in the solar sector in Navarre.
José Luis González, director of Ingeteam’s Photovoltaic business unit, opened the day with a presentation in which he analyzed the situation of the photovoltaic sector in each market, gave his opinion on different types of product and shared the forecasts for photovoltaic installations up to 2030, both in the EU and worldwide. He also acknowledged the paradox in which the sector finds itself, since the higher the percentage of PV power generation in the mix, the more its price is reduced. José Luis concluded his presentation by outlining different coupling strategies for hybrid solar and storage projects.
The session continued with the intervention of David Sola, manager of Ríos Renovables and delegate of UNEF in Navarra. In his presentation, he showed how self-consumption has been reduced in Spain due to various factors. To reverse the situation, he proposed several solutions: favouring tax deductions, decisively promoting collective self-consumption, developing energy communities and, above all, a firm public commitment to self-consumption. He addressed the problem of low prices due to the mismatch between photovoltaic generation and peak electricity demand, and set out the keys to the deployment of storage as a potential solution. David Sola ended his speech with an analysis of the EU Solar Charter and called for it to be more than just an agreement of intentions.
Participatory round table
The plenary session ended with a novelty: a participatory round table in which, in a relaxed and close atmosphere, all the attendees exchanged their points of view about the reality of the photovoltaic sector and shared their common problems. They also presented possible solutions to strengthen the sector and its industry.
Ana Goyen, president of Enercluster, closed the meeting by thanking the speakers and attendees for their active participation and the opportunity to exchange experiences and points of view. Finally, she ended by highlighting the three axes that the cluster is promoting: defense of local industry, electrification of the economy, and the development of an electricity grid suitable for future generation and demand.
