Last Friday, Enercluster took part in the 5th Navarra Industry Day, held at Baluarte under the theme “An industry to believe in”. The event, which brought together representatives of the European Commission, the Ministry of Industry and Tourism and a broad representation of Navarra’s business community, served as the setting for the presentation of the Navarra Net Zero Tech Valley.
Presented by the Regional Minister for Industry and Ecological and Business Digital Transition of the Government of Navarra, Mikel Irujo, the Navarra Net Zero Tech Valley is the first industrial acceleration valley of its kind in southern Europe. The region will make available around 3,000 hectares of industrial land across its territory to attract investment linked to the manufacturing of clean technologies.
The project will bring together initiatives in solar and wind technology, storage batteries, green hydrogen, the electricity grid and biotechnology solutions applied to climate and energy. It also includes measures to streamline administrative processing, strengthen investment attraction, boost R&D&I and attract talent.
The designation recognises an industrial ecosystem that Navarra has been developing for more than 25 years around clean energy technologies. In Irujo’s words, the valley is “the key axis on which the future” of the region’s industry will turn.
The event also featured representatives of the European Commission, who highlighted the value of this type of infrastructure for competing on a European scale and pointed to Navarra as an example of a green industrial ecosystem.
Suzana Carp, Senior EU Policy Advisor at Enercluster, framed her intervention within the current geopolitical and industrial context and analysed the European Union’s position in the face of growing international competition. She explained why Europe has lost ground in strategic industrial sectors and stressed the need to pair energy transition goals with measures that strengthen its manufacturing capacity. In this context, she highlighted the importance of the Industrial Accelerator Act as an opportunity to boost demand for products made in Europe and to give greater certainty to industrial investment. Finally, she noted that the countries and regions best positioned to seize this new momentum will be those able to combine productive capabilities, technological knowledge and effective collaboration between companies and public administrations.
Enercluster has actively taken part in this initiative, particularly in its early stages, as one of the agents of Navarra’s green energy industrial ecosystem. The cluster thus reaffirms its commitment to defending and strengthening the value chain of Navarra’s renewable industry.
