EDP, an Enercluster member company, has added 90 MW of new renewable capacity in Spain through the commissioning of two photovoltaic plants in Navarra: Cierzo II, located in Corella, and Cierzo IV, in Castejón.
With capacities of 42 MW and 47.5 MW respectively, these facilities represent the first renewable projects that the company has brought into operation in Spain in 2026, as well as its entry into the development of renewable assets in the region.
The construction of these projects involved the participation of more than 60 companies and the creation of over 200 jobs, linked both to the construction phase and the associated supply chain.
Together, the two plants include more than 160,000 solar modules and are designed to generate annually an amount of energy equivalent to the average electricity consumption of 45,000 households.
For energy evacuation, EDP has developed a substation and a 2.5-kilometre 400 kV transmission line, enabling both facilities to connect to the transmission grid operated by Red Eléctrica.
With these projects, Navarra continues to strengthen its position as a relevant territory in the development of new renewable capacity, both in terms of generation and associated industrial activity.
EDP has a strong presence in the Iberian Peninsula, with more than 14 GW of installed capacity, 288,000 kilometres of electricity networks under management and 60 TWh of energy distributed. In Spain, one of its key markets, the company has more than 4,000 MW of installed capacity, over 53,000 kilometres of distribution network and 1.4 million supply points.
In addition, it is active in energy supply and services, with a portfolio exceeding 11 TWh, more than 200 MW in self-consumption installations for companies and a network of over 1,000 electric vehicle charging points.
