Navarra has concluded its participation in the Complementary Plan for Energy and Green Hydrogen with three sub-projects developed by the National Renewable Energy Centre (CENER), totaling €8.44 million (EU MRR funds and resources from the Government of Navarra).
The closing ceremony took place at the National Hydrogen Centre (Puertollano), where Juan Luis García, Navarra’s Regional Minister for University, Innovation and Digital Transformation, highlighted the program’s “real momentum” and the need to transfer results to industry to strengthen Navarra’s position in the sector.
Sub-projects developed by CENER:
- DIGI (≈€0.8 M): digitalization of offshore wind farm management through a full wind farm digital twin and a monitoring platform for machine operation and condition.
- SOEC (≈€3.5 M): production of high-temperature hydrogen via solid oxide electrolysis using renewable energy and waste heat. Carried out with Aragón and Madrid, with electrolyzers of different sizes aimed at technology transfer to industry.
- LDBA (≈€4 M): development of advanced biofuels with a circular-economy approach, using pyrolysis, hydrothermal liquefaction, and gas fermentation. Includes commissioning a full laboratory and work with pilot plants, consolidating capabilities that did not previously exist in the region.
Across all lines of work, 28 highly specialized professionals have been incorporated (14 in hydrogen and 14 in advanced fuels), with several positions based at CENER’s centers in Sangüesa and Aoiz.
From Enercluster, we extend our congratulations to CENER for these advances and for strengthening Navarra’s technological and industrial competitiveness in offshore wind, hydrogen, and biofuels.
