Acciona Energía, a member of Enercluster, has brought two new wind farms in Croatia into commercial operation –Opor (27 MW) and Boraja II (45 MW)-, which together add up to 72 MW and raise its installed wind capacity in the country to 102 MW.
The two wind farms, in the Split-Dalmatia and Šibenik-Knin regions, feature 16 Nordex wind turbines of 4.5 MW each on 105-metre steel towers. They will produce around 203 GWh per year and avoid some 135,000 tonnes of CO₂ annually.
The electricity is sold through twelve-year contracts for difference with the Croatian market operator (HROTE), awarded by public auction under a programme approved by the European Commission. At its peak, construction generated around 400 jobs.
With this commissioning, Acciona Energía multiplies its operating wind capacity in Croatia by 3.4, where it already had the Jelinak wind farm (30 MW) since 2013, and it is also advancing in solar generation with the Promina photovoltaic plant (189 MWp), currently under construction.
