Nordex Electrolyzers Drives Green Hydrogen Production in Cáseda as Part of the H2OP Project

Nordex Electrolyzers impulsa la producción de hidrógeno verde en Cáseda dentro del proyecto H2OP

Our member company Nordex Electrolyzers has taken part in a major milestone for Navarre’s industrial sector: the launch of green hydrogen production at Viscofan’s facilities in Cáseda, within the H2OP project, a consortium made up of Viscofan, Nordex Electrolyzers, AIN and the startup URAPHEX.

This initiative, aligned with the Government of Navarre’s strategy for green hydrogen, marks a decisive step towards industrial decarbonisation and reinforces the region’s position as a benchmark in energy innovation.

A technology developed and manufactured entirely in Spain

Thanks to the joint work of the four organisations, the 500 kW electrolyzer designed, manufactured and assembled by Nordex Electrolyzers is now fully operational, together with the water treatment and recovery plant and its integration with the industrial boiler. All of this has been completed in a record timeframe of just two months.

This installation will enable Viscofan to continuously produce 100 Nm³/h of green hydrogen, reducing CO₂ emissions by 480,000 kilograms per year. A technical and operational breakthrough that strengthens the commitment to sustainable, locally developed energy solutions.

A project that supports Navarre’s energy transition

The organisations involved highlight the importance of this collaborative effort. Nordex Electrolyzers’ CEO, Luis Solla, emphasises “the rapid integration of the electrolyzer and the excellent coordination among all project partners,” as well as the significance of H2OP as a concrete step toward industrial decarbonisation through green hydrogen.

The Government of Navarre has also underlined the strategic relevance of this initiative, which is part of the 2024–2027 R&D funding call of the Department of Industry and Ecological and Digital Business Transition, with €838,428.98 provided by the regional government and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

Navarre, a benchmark in industrial innovation and collaboration

The commissioning of the Cáseda electrolyzer demonstrates the strength of Navarre’s renewable energy ecosystem and the key role that public-private collaboration plays in accelerating the transition towards a more sustainable industrial model.

From ENERCLUSTER, we would like to congratulate Nordex Electrolyzers and all organisations involved in H2OP for this shared achievement, which helps position Navarre at the forefront of green hydrogen deployment in industry.
