Sakana Group has announced a major expansion of its facilities in Lakuntza, adding 2,000 square metres dedicated to production processes and pre-shipment storage. This growth is part of its commitment to strengthen operational efficiency and consolidate its competitive position in industrial markets.
In addition to this immediate expansion, the cooperative has obtained the definitive rezoning of a further 25,000 square metres located between its production plant and the municipality of Arbizu. Sakana is currently analysing possible future uses for this additional land, depending on market demand.
These announcements were made during the institutional event held to mark the 50th anniversary of the company, at which its managing director, Jaime Urcola, highlighted that both initiatives strengthen “the added value within our organisation”. During the same event, the cooperative’s recent results were also presented: around 300 employees, a turnover close to €100 million, and an EBITDA of €10.3 million in 2024.
On an institutional and human level, the Chairman of Sakana’s Governing Council, Gorka Eceolaza, underlined the cooperative model of the organisation, while the attending authorities highlighted its contribution to Navarra’s industrial, social and territorial fabric. The company’s commitment to its environment, the creation of quality employment, and the importance of preserving its cooperative essence in a context of growth were also emphasised.
