Iberdrola has awarded Ingeteam, a member of Enercluster, contracts worth €25 million to develop battery energy storage systems (BESS) linked to renewable installations in Spain.
According to the utility, this technology enables greater integration of renewable generation into the electricity system and adds flexibility to its operation.
The award is part of a package of close to €30 million aimed at strengthening storage and the electricity grid, which consolidates Ingeteam’s position in energy storage, a strategic area for the energy transition.
Contracts like this consolidate a local value chain: they keep specialised technological capabilities within the region and strengthen the role of local industry in major electricity projects.
