Nabrawind wins the national IP Fest award for ‘Scale Up’ in Knowledge Transfer

Nabrawind gana el premio nacional IP Fest a la ‘Scale Up’ de transferencia de Conocimiento

The award recognizes the Navarre-based technology company’s ability to turn academic research into disruptive and scalable solutions that have enabled the installation of the tallest onshore wind turbines in the world.

Nabrawind has been honored with the National Award for ‘Scale Up’ in Knowledge Transfer at the latest edition of the prestigious National Knowledge Transfer Awards (IPfest), held yesterday at the CEN headquarters in Pamplona.

This recognition, within the category Where science becomes business, distinguishes companies that have efficiently and broadly scaled their business model thanks to the transfer and application of scientific knowledge originating from research groups and Knowledge Transfer Offices (KTOs).

Nabrawind’s innovations—such as the self-erecting Nabralift wind towers, the BladeRunner crane-free blade replacement system, and the Nabrajoint modular blades—have been acknowledged across the sector for their capacity to generate a strategic impact on the global energy transition. The company is considered a benchmark in how technology can be effectively transformed into real-world industrial solutions.

A recognition of ten years of effort

In his acceptance speech, Ion Arocena, CTO of Nabrawind, summarized the company’s trajectory:

“I would like to thank you for this award on behalf of the entire Nabrawind team. In ten years, we have gone from being six people sketching ideas on blank sheets of paper about the new technologies we envisioned, to installing the tallest onshore wind turbines in the world and replacing damaged blades without cranes, suspended in the air by cables.”

“None of this would have been possible without the local network of suppliers, partners, public administrations, and technology centers and universities, especially the Public University of Navarre, where half of our team studied and with whom we collaborate through the Renewable Energies Chair. We support its Master’s Degree in Wind Energy Engineering and are currently supervising two PhD theses.”
