ENERCLUSTER PARTICIPATES IN THE EU ENERGY TRANSITION GROUP
Cecilia Wolluschek – ENERCLUSTER Project Director – presented the Navarre Wind Cluster to the EU Urban Agenda Energy Transition Partnership formed by a technical working group of 10 cities and european regions, Navarre among them.
The meetings were held on 2 and 3 May in Cener and Baluarte respectively (Pamplona) after the meetings in Poland, Holland and London, and helped to prepare a guide of proposals to promote sustainable building, the reduction of energy consumption and basic practices to move towards sustainable development throughout the energy chain, from generation sources to final consumption, including production, storage, intelligent management and energy distribution networks.
The contribution of Navarre, a community that has become a reference point for innovation in some chapters on energy matters, has been particularly noteworthy for the promotion of sustainable and passive building, the reduction of mobility needs or measures to reduce energy consumption in homes in order to alleviate the phenomenon of energy poverty. Specifically, the implementation of the Navarre Social Housing project – the regional plan for renting in buildings with almost zero consumption – has been one of the programmes that have served as a guide in housing matters for the action plan that the Energy Transition Partnership group will propose to the European Commission.
The Government of Navarre is one of the partners in this active working group, in which Mikel Irujo, delegate of the Comunidad Foral in Brussels, and Carlos Chocarro, architect and sustainability technician of the public housing and urban development society Nasuvinsa, have directly participated.
